Happy Valentines everyone!

Sneak Preview

Some of the clothes for the show. No so done but the basic structure is complete. Yey! I'm so proud of myself. I was able to stitch and cleanly!
The lighitng isn't so great here but I'll take another snap next time. I'm done with 5 dresses so far. All they need are zipper and beading.
It feels like an achievement just to finish the clothes. Perhaps last year, I wouln't beleive myslef I was able to stitch these. I would run to the nearest seamstress and have it made or hide my mistakes though beads.
Now, not anymore. Maybe it's not so perfect but it is clean and it seems to fit me fitting form just right.
Good Job, Maity. It looks great! Not meaning to flatter myself but I need a pat in the back right now.

Ultra Tragic Signs of the Time

Yes, its' about the Ultra incident. 74 dead in a stampede.
What I gathered was that people camped out in Ultra since Wednesday. Wowowee was going to give away 10,000.00 pesos worth of prizes to the first 100 people. Only 300 people were allowed to play Pera o Bayong. When the guards opened the gate just a bit, people pushed in. The front row was crushed between the barricades and rushing people resulting to death.
Million peso question: Who is to blame?
Pilipino talaga! They need to find someone to blame.
Who is to blame? Who has fault?
???
Wowowee Organizers
Maybe. They do have some faults.
1. They should have gotten a bigger venue if they invited that much people. There are millions of viewers whom they enticed to come to the anniversary celebration. Among the millions, seventy thousand people responded and came took thier chances in Ultra.
2. When they put up big screens in the football feild, they shouldn't have announced that the people in the football feild couldn't participate in the games.
In a way, it was like dangling meat to a pack of hungry wolves. Perhaps ABS didn't mean it that way but it looked like that to the other people.
The Local Government and Police
Why weren't they at the streets? Wowowee organizers can only protect and use their forces inside the Ultra compound. The police should have been at the streets. The Pasig government should ahve forseen this too.
Willie
He's just the host. Perhaps he should have had a say. Now they are blaming him because he is the one always seen. The massees listen to him. I hope the Ultra Task force don't arrest him. They would face millions of fans who would riot in the streets.
The Philippine Government
The PDI commentaries said that the Ultra Tragedy was a reflection of the state of the economy. Yes, that guy was right. No dollar rate can affect the squatters or the blue collars. Ask you yayas. Ask they now that the peso is higher, how would you gain more money? How can things become cheaper? Nope. It won't affect them. Taasan ka lang ng kilay!
People are desperate. Who were the ones who went to Ultra? Elderly women who are bread winners, street sweepers and the like. They want to get at the prizes. A house and lot, P1 Million in cash, Jeepneys, tricycles, what more can they ask for?
The People
Can we also blame the masses who came to Ultra? They were the ones who pushed and killed themselves. People who were further back wanted desperately to get some freebies or merely get inside Ultra that they pushed with all their strength towards the front.
Outside Forces
1. You can say that the land was sloped. From the street to the gate, there was a thirty degrees slope downwards so a little push, the whole mass of people would be forced forward.
2. Hunger. Mom's friend works in Ultra. He said that eversince wednessday, there were people camped outside. Friday, the streets were unpassable. There were limited portalets. The only thing to eat were peanuts sold by the vendors. Peanuts for threedays can make you nuts. Mix it with a go at the prizes and peole will surely get desperate.
=
My conclusion, they all had a hand in this tragedy.

Excited for the Show.

One of the pictures we took for the pictorials.

The situation so far...

Who even said fashion shows would be easy? Nope. I take this as a challenge.
There were a lot of negative vibes when we pushed through with the show. Why? I don't know? Are we benefitting from this? Its my duty as a citizen to do what I can to help our nation. This is what I've come up with. Eversince a child, I always see myself as patriotic. If there was some speckle of way I can find to help our ailing country, I would do it. Now, here we are. I'm using my talents to help? How can fashion help the country? Here was my solution. We promised the zoo the ticket sales for the events.
*
Do I still look happy now? Not even with all the sponsors I got. Why? because all I was asking was that my group's faith in me would not faulter. Their decisions tell me what they think. Perhaps they really do believe in me. Perhaps they think I can do it no matter what so they backed away. I am just one person. I can't do everything myself. Thank God there are people helping. I'll save the thank you part after the show.
Perhaps these people who backed out have their reasons. I know I ahve to understand it. It's just, so last minute. So now I rant to let it out. I try to look professional all the time. Even if I want to break dishes, I maintain as calm sa I can.
There's nothing I can do about that blasted factory! I told her not to depend on it so much. That blasted factory didin't make a single garment for me. Not a single one! Is that fair? Not for me. Well, everyboday's saying life sucks. Deal!
I've spent on fabrics for both of them out of my personal pocket because I want a good show. In the end, I'm back to square one.
It's not easy balancing time. All my days are dedicated to the show. I have no rest day. Don't they know that? I know they are in school so I do the outside work. Ja was right. If someone really wants it, they'd do it. If they don't, there are so many reasons not to work.
*
I'm going to push through with the show because everything is laid out already. So there are a few bumps on the road. There will always be bumps on the road. So the clothes didn't come out right. We are designers. We can fix it. These things are test of character and now I know I have character and the people with me who persevere have characters too.
Not attitude but character.
*
Looking at eh situation, there was nothing wrong. There was only a bump on the road and I was quite upset about it. Now, I'm all better. I like this blog thing. It releases your anger.
Now, off to the zoo I go. I have to coordinate the lights and sounds.

The Story of My Cats

I've been looking at my past Meowy pictures. There were still so young!
From baby litters of 5, they grew. I remeber it was trouble when they started to eat. With 5 baby cats feeding on a little star margarine bowl, there was plenty of troubles. Six cats inside the house was trouble enough! They hid under the table on top of the chairs. I remebered Dad wanted to sit down when he pulled the chair, behold! A bunch of lazy catties slumped together. Then, we put two separate bowls and made them sleep outside. Then, unexpectedly, they adopted Tyke. Tyke is a grey tiger cat. He had black lips and developed large ballies. hehehe. He hated being picked up. His closest was feisty cat. Then, Doggy jr ran away. Doggy jr is an exact likeness of her mother. She was the last to be born.
Before I continue, you might want to know these cats better and in order:
Dog (Jade named her)- Mother cat. White with black spots, black tail with a white tip. She likes having sex with a lot of male cats. Growses her little litters so. Wawa catties!
Fatty- THe alpha male. big and fat. He grew beautifully. Very masculine and grew a goaty too. distictive for a cat. I know his face so well. He can understand my words and hand signals. Very smart but loves isolation. Loves a good headscratch but hates being kissed.
Jade calls him Alonzo.
2nd- Not named- He was hiven away as soon as he stopped breastfeeding. Jade's friend requested a domesticated cat.
Cute Catty- Very feminine. Yes but he's a man! Yup, He started to grow balls but retained the "sheness" quality in him. He's very affectionate and smart. He can detect feelings. I felt very close to Cute Catty. He knew if I was sick, he'd rub himself at once to me. Doesn't fight much if I give him a bath, so he's the cleanest cat. I also keep him in my bedroom.
Feisty cat- Very feist. Doesn't want to go near me. Scratches JAde a lot. All black except the snout and belly. She remained small but kinda resembled a panther if she was all black.
Doggy Jr- complete resemblance of her mother. She ran away witht the neighbor's cat and never returned.
Tyke- He's a grey tiger cat. He hates being picked up. Struggles everytime I catch him. He usually lazed in the garden always beside Feisty. Sometimes he trialed Fatty.
Tyke was actually adopted by the 5 other meowys. Yup. Everytime the little kittens breastfeed, he comes near. Dog doesn't let him near first but then, he started to play with the other kittens. We all knew he was abandoned. Dog finally accepted him and let him breastfeed with them. See it in my shutterfly album.
So there's the first bunch. Then, six months later, a new batch came.
The alpha cat was bon just like Fatty but he had a big birth mole just before his nose near his eyes.
The next cat was completely black!
The third and fourth were twins. They were dark grey tiger cats.
The last one was all white except the tipo of the tail. She was so white!
Yup, neighbor's cats again. It was that dark grey cat from one of the neighbor's house. I thought it was that ginger colored cat with a red collar. She was always with him. She even let him eat in the same bowl she does. She wouldn't let anyone else does them.
So the catty equation would be:
1 (Dog) + 5 (first batch) + 1 (Tyke) - (2nd Cat) - (Doggy jr) + 5 (2nd batch)
= 10 cats!!!
As if that wasn't enough! The first and 2nd batch unanimously agreed to adopt an abandoned ginger cat: Seargent Pepper.
Seargent Peper clung on to Cute Cat and occassionally to Fatty. Mostlty, this little kitten stuck with the 2nd batch. The 2nd batch always stuck together.
So then, the faithful day that we moved. The next day, I returned for my cats, they were gone! Song of the day: Gone by Justin T. Baby you're gone! Baby girl, you're gone!
Then: Unbreak my Heart by Toni Braxton. I tried to talk to any cat on the streets to see if my cats were still alive. I told them my address. I told them to see if any Fatty or Cutty still roamed the streets searching for me. As I have guessed but hoped was not true, the caretakers of the house stewed them in a soup! There were mounds at the garden with fresh sand! Not earth but sand! in mounds! I knew it!
A month passed and a certain meowing came from the garage doors then the fatty cat jumped inside from a small hole. Fatty was so then I didn't know what to call him anumore. So I cleaned him up and fed him milk and bread. Then, outside I saw that he brought along Seargent Pepper. Cute litte Pepper cat was scared and frail. I fed them both and nursed them back to health.
Fatty healed fast. His wounds and scabs came off. Seargent Pepper was different. He didn't want to eat and was sicker longer. He coughed. Oh yes! Cat's cough, burp, hiccup, choke and fart! I had to force milk inot him. Though Fatty kept drinking the milk when Pepper didn't respond. I feared the worse but I was vigilant. I wrapped him in rags and was very patient about the milk. Fatty and Pepper were back to normal.
Fatty re-learned all his ricks again. In fact, I taught him the trick of Cute cat. But the bond we had with Cute Cat was strong. I couldn't really compare to what Fatty or Pepper has with me. Sure, Fatty is courteous and cautious. He doesn't bite or scratch me. He's careful to eat from my lap or fingers. Pepper on the other hand, learns by example from Fatty. He can't really comprehend as much but getting there. He still can't stand long enough or learn to catfch food with his paws like Fatty. Only Fatty can eat bread from my mouth. Hehehe! I call it lips to lips!
In time, Fatty and Pepper help fill the hole in me. Yup, I needed someone to listen. Not to my words but to my heart. The vibration my heart makes and their vibes from their emotions. Not that I don't have friends. It's just cats have this healing power I need. Because I was forced to mature faster than I planned, my healing wore away with it. Perhaps I can try to heal other people but who's going to heal me?
I need a hug from the cats. Plus, they are very good massagers.
Even if I view myself as a fish or mermaid, I feel I have this deep connection with cats.

Working Vacation

It's vacation for me but it didn't hinder me from working. I'm calling, texting and e-mailing people left and right. Things are getting delayed but even if I were in Manila they'd still get de layed. It's a fact of life thing. You can't get what you want when you want.
So now, the show tickets are being sold at ticketworld.
see this for the Inter-Kultura Fashion Show by Avant Designer League:
I'm happy. It's step one. Posters and tarps are to be relased monday. Then, clothes need last checking. Models then stage and backdrop.
Our Davao trip is ending but it was quite an experience. I feel like a native in my own land. I'm glad to have visited. People are still friendly. Everything here is still as laid back as before.
We'll be going to the beach tomorrow. Then when we get back, uwi na Manila. Awww.

Early Birds in a Song

Today, Ja and I woke up at 4am. I was our first time to see a MaƱanita. They started at 5 though. A group of singers serenaded Nanay until she came down. Nice guesture. Lovely tradition. If I can only trace it back.
Yesterday, you would not beleive what happened. Ja and I got our ears peirced!!! Yes.
An in a pedia's clinic. They were expecting kids but two female adults came. Whoops wrong clinic! But it's ok. The doctor peirced our ears.
Lunch, we ate in Chippens. Not a cheap place. A classy counterpart of Cabalen. Good food. Good service. We also went to the famous China China. It's like scattered stores with Made in China goods. Kinda like 168, only in individual stores scattered around the Sta. Anna district.
They, to Johna's to buy ethnic beads. I've spent a lot here. It isn't exactly cheap but I love the shells and brass and wooden beads. Lovely. Then, off to Aldevinco. I got these cute earings.
All in all, mom was right. I have the tendency to spend all my money in shopping. I bought the strangest and coolest stuffs too. From wooden badminton rackets to sponge slippers to plastic dolphins! Practical? Useless?
It's not what you bought.
Its the shopping experience!
Haaaaa!
This morning, after resting from breakfast, Ja and I played badminton for 46 minutes. The grass was newly watered so our feet were wet after playing.

Davao day 2 and 3

Ok, her'e what happened yesterday:
We went to NCCC which is very near nanay's house. As in walking distnace. As in across the street! There, we looked around. There were a lot of things for sale and exhibit but security is as tight as airport. Asian Tourism Forum deligates were there too.
Then we went to SM. There was an exhibit and bazaar on the 2nd floor also for the delegates pero welcome mga tao. Mahal! Yung mga china china pearls 1000 per strand!!! Had lunch in Dencios. We had BBQ pork, BBQ Chicken, Sisig, and 3 rice, Iced tea na bottomless for drink. It cost us 239.00 in Dencios. Iniwan ko na 11 for tip.
Then, we went to Gaisano Mall. I bought Jadey a lot of things! What about me? Swimsuits are too small there!!! Hope she likes it. Lovely for summer top!
Then we went to Victoria Plaza. I finally bought a nice swimsuit. (2peice!) Then, more shopping. Ja also bought a 2 peice!!! Wooow! Sexy Bikini!
Then, I took Ja to Blugre! (Pronounce:Blue-Gray) Yum. Its Davo's version of Starbuck. only with Durain coffee and Durain Fraps. What do you expect in Durian Country?
Weird for her ang Durian pero I enjoyed it. Fresh and blendered durian with cream and coffee! Yum!
So now, we are in netopia. waiting for ahia jun. We're going to Malagos Monkey Eating Eagle!!! It's an eagle breeding ang preservation site. Alo a zoo. Parang ayaw ko ng animals? Save the animals!!!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Davao!

Ja and I are in Davao!
Lat me kwento. Here's what happened so far.

Yesterday:
Kakatawa dahil pink and denim suot naming dalawa. Great minds talaga! Bag namin pareho din tapos sabit sabit pa sa amin ang mga SLR cameras. HAHAHA! Dalawa kaming walang breakfast and la lunch. Bili ako ng mamon. SUPER Mahal food. Bili si Ja sotanghon and share kami drink. Sotanghon is like 60 and mamon is like 30!!!
We waited sa pre-departure. Super kwento namin ni Ja, we forgot the long wiat. 12:20 bigla nalang naglaline ang mga tao. Tapos nakita namin DAVAO sa sign. So takbo. After boarding, super tagal before umalis plane. mga 1:20 na. Yung plane before us na supposed to leave 12:20 delayed so hindi kami makaalis unless nakaalis na sila. So after the short trip with a pack of cream-oh and C2 (Robina products) we landed. Super kwento nawala ang time. Ito pa, we were talking about Plane crash and the show na LOST. Nagcrash isang plane sa isang island and mga people na nagsurvive have to find a way to really survive or get LOST. Maybe finifreak out namin katabi namin. Parang kami lang naguusap and tulog lahat eh. Or stunned silent because of our kwento of plane crash!
By the way, parang kalahati lang mga tao sa plane. Hindi puno. When we got to the luggage area, got our baggage tapos naweweewee si ja so CR. Tapos, la nang tao. Parang ghost town. Feel ko tuloy nasa NAIA3 kami. Freaky! Echoing silence.
So Ahia Jun picked us up. Tamang tama, paglabas namin ng airport door, bagsak ulan. Amah prepared food. Yummy! Lechon Manok and bihon then that dessert she always make. Thier house is very nice. Dramatic effect! Then,we had to go nanay house. Bonding nanay and ja. Baka daw may relatives si ja kasi marami siyang kapangalan here. Ha search for family tree!
So then we went to Hanoi

9tita Neneng's new restaurant) Si Ate Trishell and Tita Neneng were there.
May ATF conference ngayon sa Davao. Hope hindi matao or mataasprices. Anyways, reserved and Tsuru and Hanoi today just for the delegates. Maki delagates nga rin kami!
Today:

We go to NCCC mall the SM then Gaisano then Victoria. Mall tour kami.
Tomorrow's plan:
Maonkey-Eating Eagle Preservation area and Zoo. Kaloka when i shouted "Monkey eating tayo!" sa car, Ja thought we were going to eat monkeys! I don't think I'm cut to eat things that are too exotic thank you.
Hugs and Kisses!

My ode to my fave pants.
When I first got you, you were blue green. Through the years, you became sky blue with white marks. Pretty cool huh? Mom bouhgt you in Australia. Loved the style. The tag was this heart-heart thing. Kawaii! Then, yesterday, after extreme biking, riperidooda! My thighs caught in the overly huge bike seat. Ok, pants... time ti retire. It's been a swell time these past 3 years.

Time is of the Essence

Yup, it is. I am making major phone calls in the morning and setting out in the afternoon. Whew. Who knew this show was big work!
I knew. Thank God I have no more school.
Next week, Ja and I go to Davao. Hehehe. Break! Cultural experience!
I have to set everything by then. Whew! May, this is kill! It's the phone calls that kill. I kinda think the Mayor's ofice is avoiding me. The person I needed to talk to keeps on giving excuses not to get to the phone. He's with the mayor, in the bathroom, out to lunch: call back 10 mins, then 20 mins then 1hour. Man! Pero hindi ko siya tinigilan. Finally this morning, I got it. I was able to talkk to him for 5 mins. It wasn't that bad. All I needed were some questions answered and things he had to do for me. Was it that bad? He made it look like it was. Even if his secretary said he was out, I hear him at the bg.
Pictorials on the 24th. CAn't wait!
We'll see ya on the show!

Day of Work

It's the 4th of January and it's the first day of office. Yes, government offices are open so I started to make phone calls here, bank trips there. All for the show.
The fashion show is going to be grand. Why? Because I want to make it so. It's for the good of our country. I'm helping the tourism board boost.
Just got out of sickness and I'm running around already. Everyone thinks I might get a relapse. I'll try to slow down a little.
Oh, had a revamp of designs. I want it pure PiƱa. Mahal? I guess. I have 6 yards each for my groupmates. Six to work on and I'll be buying pure PiƱa for the final gown. Good luck to me!

Inah's New Blog

Check out Inah's blog.
Just a bit proud of it. :-)
I had to download Picasa to get the pictures there but it was ok.
I was able to use the Picasa too.
She wanted to voice ot her thoughts too without literally using her voice.
Being a bit shy, she said she wanted to write letters in a blog.

So, welcome to the group of blogger, Inah!
Hope you like the look of the blog!

Now it has taken its toll.
Oh well, I need this well-deserved rest.

Christmas sickness!

It's Christmas and I'm sick.
Actually, I've not been feeling well since the 22. 23, I wouldn't let my headache and bodyache get me. I was determined to go shopping. 23 in the evening, me down. 24, very sick. 25, lousy morning but I'm quite ok now. A little food, lots of drinks, tons of love and I'm ok. My fever's down.
My little caregiver, Pat, has done a good job giving me some tender loving massage. Oooohhh! Feels good. A little massage from Jade is also good.
Gifts! Gifts Gifts!
Lots 'a gifts! New pants, lots of accessories, books!
"Doesn't it feel like Christmas, it feels lovely. 2X
Feels so lovely, so lovely!"
Aki gave more copic and a box of Tatari-asu (Suit balls) food. Yup, strait from Japan. The food for the cuddly, spider-like suit balls. Don't I feel special.
Hope to get better! I have a lot of work to do. At least I got the tela na for our fashion show. Yup, 50 yards and I carried it from Divisoria to the car. Wee!
I'm pumping iron! Lots of testosterone pumping! I'm a regular cargador! Raar!
Mwah!
I made Inah a blog. For an added extra Christmas gift, I wanted it to be special but I lost her password. Now, I can't update a new look I found for her. Man!
Oh Well!
Merry Christmas to all!

Tuesday, December 20

The Merryment!

Oh! Let the merryment begin!
Tests are officially over! Course cards tomorrow!
Yesterday, Mom salvaged what was left of the X-mas tree.
I used the branches and wired them to the stairs.
it looks nice. Just needs a bit of lights.
I'm happy. I'm doing the best I can for our first Christmas in this house.
Yup, Maita Rue will Rev up the Vienna House.
It'll be cheery for the holidays or am I not the middle child of Vienna?
Today, I'm going to go to Quiapo. Even if it's super squeezy, I'll brave it!
Oh, let the merryment begin!
As for the toubles in the progressing: "On-line blog war,"
Let it halt. Let it cease!
It's Christmas! Let's forgive.
Live!
Live and let live!
Let me sing a carol for all of you:
"Oh God, bless us everyone!
The good and the bad,
The happy the sad!
Oh God, bless us everyone!"
***
Put up that happy face, the joyful will be triumphant!
"Oh come, all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant!
Oh come ye, oh come ye
to Bethlehem!"
Hugs and Kisses!

Mr. "Nicest"

Dear VJ,
.
Let me express my opinions, feelings and thoughts. I know, I know you might think its another ranting about the show. Not really. More on you as a person.
Wasn't it you who said na you can fit all the clothes to one hour? I've heard you said that last term and the term before that. How come naging 2 hours this show?
Please, why are you defensive if a lot of people didn't like this show?
Didn't the super text message kanina sa class say something? Somebody is mocking the whole class for the grad show. Doesn't that say something?
No more plastican. I'm telling you this because you need to know this. Though you don't consider me a friend, I'm still going to tell you your little faults. (Friends are supposed to tell each other thier mistakes, right?)
Don't take it hard. Personal opinion: I didn't like the show. (no offense, zig.) I thought you can prove us wrong if we lay back a bit. Guess, that wasn't the case. Perhaps there were a lot of factors involved as well. I did the best I can: do the bugdeting and made the letters. It was all up to the ones who commited.
Let us examine what was your commitment. This is not singling you out from everybody else. Its just, you have the most comment and you cannot take that the show was not as bonga as you wanted it.
You were supposed to be choreographer. How come pasaway models mo?
I don't mean to drag the past but you did once commited to help with the food in re- and you left me and vic to do the work on that. All we needed was 10 minutes of your time but you wanted to wait for your model who came at 6pm. There was plenty of time to help.
Now, please take this all calmly. The show was not a disaster, it just didn't go as we hoped. Get me?
Just listen to eveybody's comments and thoughts. And I mean everybody. Not just friends. Get diversed opinions. Its only an opinion. What's to loose?
.

Now I've said my peace.
Time to graduate and leave it all behind.
As you always say: That's Life!
Freedom of Speech.
Amen!
PS: Nothing personal but then again, what in life isn't being taken personal? Person is the root word of personal. We all have our own free minds and free will.

Pitter Patter

The drops fall constantly
but the day grows gloomier as the drops fall slowly.
A fist full of days...
then will it be over?
Perhaps?
Will this darkness, gloom, anger
bitterness, apathy, regret close as the year does?
***
It was said in John: “Let he who is without sin be the first one to cast the stone.”
Did a blameless cast the fist stone?
Nay, opposite.
Peace, my friends. I'm no judge.
I merely relay what I have witnessed.
***
"Do not begrudge a sou(like peso in old french)
Its not what we Christians must do."
--Les Miserables
***
The pitter patter does not cease.
It falls constantly outside the window.
The drops are random
But there is a pattern.
Can you see it?
Mayhaps you need only hear it.
Pitter
Patter
The sound of raindrops...
.
a free form poem of some sort
dedicated to the bitterness around me.

What a Blunderful Life...

Updates on life:
One
Tasks in Worlite are over! No more travelogues and papers. I did my presentation smoothly and Ms. Amador sisn't even ask a question. The key to a good paper is to have a position. You have to say something and stick to saying it the whole time.
My paper is about Alexandre Dumas. My position is that he was so influential that he influenced todays movie makers. from true to his books 3 Musketeers, Man in the Iron Mask and Count of Monte Chirsto to influenced works like La Femme Musketeer and the 5th Musketeer. He even influenced our very own Jose Rizal.

The scale model for the store for Sir Jay went better than I expected. The panel loved my floor plan. They think it flows perfectly. I just used everthing I learned and picked-up on my journmey of learning. Here's my secret: Sir Elvert made us design a lay-out of a museum or art gallery. I put into mind everything he said. 1)Keep things simple. 2)Take off any distractions. 3)Less is more.
Then, I remeber what the sales lady in Robinsons said. She said the customers always leave when they take too long in getting stocks from the stockroom so I made module racks.
Also there's what Sir Aman taught us. I applied his lectures on semiotics to my logo. A store for maternity apparel and accessories can't look like a teen trend store. I looked at logos of maternity stores and saw that most of them had curcular motiffs. So I made mine an egg with a fetal curve that also quite looks like a yin yang. There's many interpretations to it.

The Grad Show is over. I do say we went over budget. Why didn't we do it like I feel or re-? It could have been cheaper. Dont' blame me for the budget blunders. I'm not the implementer. My clothes were finished in the nick of time and I slept the morning awya today. 4 days without sllep can highen you blood sugar so be careful! check your blood pressure! Are you getting dizzy? Your heart might just stop!
AS for me, It kept on ticking and ticking fast. The show didn't get as we planned it. I could see the audience texting, looking else where and getting plain bored. Even my sister kept texting me that she and mom and the people around her were bored. There were cuts that we couldn't explain. Then Inaah's clothes came out and they announced Hazel's name. VJ got angry at Hazel and Inah but it was not their fault. They were busy suiting up models that they din't even know what was happening. Here comes the big M yapping his trap about these two. It was not their fault and it bites me he does this to them.
I was so touched Ja gave me a bouquet. My parents never gave me flower for all four shows. Awww... Tear! Hugs! Mwah!
Four
Marketing time! I have to do this paper now and presentations with it too. Not to mention Photogra.

Thursday, December 1

Begin? Let it end, please!!!

Begin? The show? Its hectic crazy! I'm not yet even done with my clothes!!! 4 desgins and they need stitching!!! Man!
Kakaloka today, VJ is in his spree of wanting to touch women's boobs. Is he really gay or just pretending to be gay to hold women? God be the judge. As for me, I ain't keeping my guard down. If he ever touches me, he'll meet a woman man-er than him. It's summo time! Diki and Jady haven't beaten me in wrestling yet. Pat hasn't eaither! There are some uses to being big. hehe!
December's here! Man! Crazily, I want it over and done with. I know it'll get more hectic during the show proper. Let's see, let's see. I have a few predictions to make...

Can you SEE it? Not in PGH

Kaye and I went to PGH to get her eyes checked. At the reception area, we inquired. It's 400.00 per check up but there is a charity clinic at the Opta department. After getting lost for one hour, we finally get tot he Opta. Then, the guard said there is a procedure for charity patients. We must first get a blue card and all that jazz procedues. Then, he says its not possible to do anything this week for the power in the building is out and they will not do anything until next week. So we inquired to get the paying type. "Ay, soorii ma'am. La kaming private Opta dito."
Poop! You won't find an opta in PGH!
Sayang Pamasahe! Sayang sa effort. The receptionist could have said there was no Opta na private and the charity Opta isn't there until next week.
Kasi govenment run eh!

PiƱa Linen

I went scouting for fabrics and went to the distributor of a material 100% tatak Ponoy. Unfortunately nobody is buying. It is called PiƱa Linen. It is actually a lovely material for blouses and sun dresses. Barong for daily wear could utilize this. Its light and soft but has a bit of cripiness in it. Its not indigenous but it is Filipino. 50% Natural as dictated by law.
Yes, there is actually a law. RA 9294 states na government offices kailangan they use materials na 100% made in the Philippines. 50% Natural.
Why is it we don't support our own? Perhaps it is because we lack promotion. So now I'm promoting PiƱa Linen. It is Pina and polyester. Very good material!

Jade's Dream Comes True

Jade always wanted to be a model. Here's her chance. I've been making her my model for Photogra class. She has a nice side sometimes. It during these pictorials sessions that she doesn't have a fit. Wow. Cameras do have an effect!
Slow it down, Jade.

Two worlds in a vacation

you know me... I'm a person living in two worlds.
Not autistic I assure you. There is just a million possibilities tha tI might be here where I am typing but am. Weird?
-
When I went Japan last yerar, my sister introduced me to the world of Diana Wynne Jones. I was in Japan but also in the world of wizard, witches and magic! Yes, books takes me elsewhere. I have to read. And read I did. What would you do in a train for 1 hour going to your destination and another hour back? Read!
I'm supposed to have a break but no! I'm drawing, patterning, draping and typing. Then, IU read from 9pm to 1am. Once I read til 2:30am! Hehehe. Thick paper back book with controvercial magical issues isn't letitng me sleep. Hehehe.
I was in powebooks when there was a sale. A lot of pocket bookswere just 80 pesos each. cool! I bought three and now finishing my second. Original price was 335.00. It says so at the back but the sale made it only 80.00! Too bad part II and III are not available. I went online to find them. They are available in Amazon. If you have a Librathing, you may see me. I use the name Maita. Check it out and catalogue your books! www.Librarything.com
Now, for my overview of the world Aqusilva and te book Heresy, check out my book review blog: http://mermaidarium.blogs.friendster.com/ictus
I have a map of Aquasilva to let you all understand the geography. It pretty hard to understand if you didn't see the map. Just click the link here:
So, I'm at Aquasilva during my late nights while back in Earth the rest of the time. Oh well...
Living two worlds isn't that easy. My aunt once told me my brain had too much activity. She had to take out a lot of energy but it still refused to rest. My uncle joined in taking off the energy but it still won't work. I just hope it comes handy during a test. Though it works in a different way.

The Mediator

There are people we take for granted in class.
They are ridiculed and taunted a lot.
They do things to bring people to gether. Perhaps their methods may confuse us but it is all for the right reasons. These people are called mediators.
We have our own mediator in class. He made the retreat possible.
To thank that friends, I write this blog entry.
*
Vic, keep doing what you do! You always bridge lives, remember that!
If people tell you that you are chismoso, you relay information with the intention to make people understand not confuse them.
You make sure everyone in the group is safe and well.
In a way, you looked after us all.
There are harsh people in this world but thank God there are people I can count on like you!
Friends!

SM Surplus Deception

Times are hard but does that mean you have to decieve to boost sales? This is what happened yesterday in SM Bicutan Surplus. We were shopping for pants. There was a big sale on pants with prices P249.75 each. It says so in the rack that the price was down. Then in the counter, the price was P399.75. The sales lady reasoned that a customer might have placed it there by accident. But that was quite impossible for the rack was organized and all pants in that rack were the same! The sales ladies didn't want to get the sign down. We called the supervisor but she only smiled and said sorry. The sign was taken down but the price was not. When we were leaving, they put back the sign. Talk about deception!
This is a warning to everyone. Careful! Times are hard and people are harder! When there is a descreapancy on prices, complain so they would know they can't fool you.
This happened in SM Bicutan in Surplus.

Heroes Aging on Stone?

http://mermaidarium.blogs.friendster.com/photos/caloocan/index.html
Are the heroes vanishing? On their pedestal of stone, are they crumbling?
In our hearts, are they disappearing?
We had a school project to go to Caloocan last Saturday. I got some pictures form my digicam. Are these sites still worth seeing?
Now I examne in me if these heroes really died for something. I remember I wrote in my first novel(which got deleted) something one of the Characters said:
"Heroes dying, they get praising.
In the end, they died for nothing."
Did they?
What they did? The selfless act, the fighting, the dying... Are we proud to be called as Filipinos? Rizal and Binofacio, would they be proud of us?
We who patronize other countries? We who oppress the least of our brothers and sisters?
We who has forgotten our heritage?
And the ones in power? We who place them where they are, can we be proud of leaders who bring shame to our country?
The heroes have aged in our minds. We never even bothered to give birth to new ones. The heroes have aged in our hearts. They fade in the stone pedestal, they fade in our lives.

Aurum Est Potestas

Meet Artemis Fowl, criminal Mastermind since age twelve. What do you do when you have the highest IQ recorded in all Europe. This Irlandskii boy has many enemies on his tail. Also, loyal friends.
But who is Artemis Fowl?
Gold is power. That's the family motto he abides by. For generations now, the Fowls have been involved in illegal dealings though none proven. Our young Artemis Fowl II is not about to break family taditions. Not even after his father, Artemis Fowl Senior, vows a straight life for him and his family.
Not Artemis. The more dangerous the escapade, the more he feels up to the challenge.
He has 12 patented chess moves. He forged and auction a Van Gogh, Diary of Leonardo Da Vinci and others. What else can a genius do? Oh yeah! Write a psychology book.
He calls himself Artemis the hunter, after the Greek goddess of hunting. once in a while, as he claims, a mortal is fit enough to bear the name of Artemis and that, my dear friends, is our young Master Fowl. He hunsts for thrill and possible victims.
Gold is power and power is what he looks for. Not to mention every time he blackmails, he gets gold in ransom. That's our young Artemis Fowl.

Analysis of Two Plays

Two plays, a tragedy for Friday and a comedy for Sunday.
What are these play? For Friday, R'Meo luvs Dew-Lhiet. Its a Jologs adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. The other for Sunday is The Taming of the Shrew.
The later play was in CCP. They tried to Tagalize and adapt the story to the indifent area of the Philippines. I can quite say it is very adaptable and we all can relate from time to time. It poses universal problems of unacceptance and discrimination.
The Taming of the Shrew is played at Onstage Greenbelt. It is performed as if Shakespeare himslef directed it. English, Shakespearean English and the whole costumes and stuff. It is a wishful thinking of man about the quality of woman they want to marry.
From the venue when the plays are set, we get an idea of the audience and the kind of play it is. Nothing against its quality, both has exhibited the right acting and the flawless memoried speeches. I guess I can say, I just wasn't the audience of the first play. I didn't appreaciate it so much. The only reason I paid for the ticket and watched because it was a requirement. You see my preference in more on the classics and traditional matters. It was not based on theme though. I do feel Taming of the Shrew is Chauvinistic. Something I'm against. It is all on the taste. Threater does excite me. Taming of the Shrew, Evita and all those Trumpet musicals. It's not that my taste is foreign. It just achieved its international standards.

Bringing it to the Present

Today's new ideas are yesterdays original ideas being modernized. Yes. They are all bieng reinvented today. We weave elements of the past and present into one up-to-date story.
Why do we bring these ideas to the present? Is it to bastardize it? Maybe just because we really don't have new ideas anymore?
Perhaps it really is just the fad.
Things, places, ideas and even people. If they don't change, they disappear. stagnation, as people say, is detrimental. We have to change. But that change has to be for the better.
Bringing past to present isn't just some wicked idea to mould without cause. Tey has to be a definite cause and certain influences why it is so. A whim of change is just a mere fab to fade soon in oblivion. Concrete ideas, no matter borrowed, can withstand the test of time. True, it may be alterable but it only shows its flexibility.

What is Filipino Fashion?

What makes a fashion Filipino? What sets it apart?

Ja and I browsed through the library and found that there was no definite meaning. Most of the books we found were about Baro’t Saya, Terno and Barong. These are already colonial influences. What is the true meaning of Filipino Fashion?

It dawned to me that Filipino Fashion is something you have to discover for yourself. It depends on each person on what her meaning is. As a Fashion Designer, you have to search inside what is Filipino in you that makes your clothes Filipino too.

Filipino Fashion is the history and identity of a true Filipino interpreted in clothes and accessories. Elements of this fashion dates back from pre-colonial times until the contemporary times.

Elements:
Pre-colonial.

Pre-colonial elements differs slightly from tribe to tribe. This is because each tribe has their own interpretations for each symbol and color.

  • Weave: Ikat, Tinalak, Yakan cloth, etc.
  • Cuts: bells sleeves, g-strings, tunic shirts, wraps etc.
  • tapis, malongs, sarongs
  • Beads, heavy in beading and accessories
  • Patterns: Scrolling(plants), Geometric, Anthromorphic(human shapes)
  • Animistic symbols
  • Letters and figures: Sanskrit from Muslim tribes, Alibata, Devanageri, Austronesian.
  • Color combinations
  • Stones, gold, brass, copper

Spanish
Having colonized us for more than three hundred years, they left strong influences imbedded.

  • Weave: Jusi, PiƱa, etc.
  • Cuts: Terno, Baro’t Saya, Balntawak, Barong, etc.
  • Religious icons
  • Embroidery
  • Lace, panueallas

Other Influences
Chinese. Because of trade, we acquired elements from Chinese traders bringing us goods and influences.
Colors and

  • their meanings: Blue, red and yellow
  • Shoes and slippers
  • Fans and intricate bags
  • Patterns, hand paintings etc.

Western. Brought by American, this is the latest influence that dominates the fashion.

Burry Dreams Broken

Farewell Dreams, we had quite a time
Love inbetween, It has passed.
'Tis was not our faults
Our destination's bound to fail
Forces come to shatter us
And Life has turned her blind eye
Yonder lies your fragment.
Shall I burry in the hopes it may sprout?
Nay, my heart's too heavy.
.
Perhaps soon when I sooth
You shall call me,
"Lady Dreamer, come and burry me
That I may start a new
in a sprout of more dreams bring
A new dawn for my lady of the shade."

The Ill-Made Mute, Rag among Rags

An Enchanting Novel By Cecilia Dart-Thornton.
*
Mistifying struggle of a mute and her endurance in a world of danger and discrimination.
*
Imerhein, the deformed mute, is in a constant struggle with wights and people who look at her differently. It shows a gruesome reality that people do judge by appearance. It takes humble people to overcome her face and befriends her.
*
Is there a humble person around? In this day and age? Will Imerheins of our time survive?
She will long perish and vanity will rule leaving her in a dark world that is a nightmare.
Reality? yes. We trap her to books yet we do not see what is around.
She is real and around.
There are many personifications and symbolisms to her.
Imerhein in society is the deformed person, ugly. Judged by appearance. She is mute because she is not listned to. She has no "voice."
*
*
*
Im am always looked as a rag picker. Perhaps every Imerhein I've already met. And I can't help them all. It's hard to please everyone.
In time, I begin to see myself like her.
One of the voiceless.
And the very rags I try to help are the filthy ones that smother me slow and painfully.

It's Harder with Friends

It's harder with friends because you know how they would take it.
It's harder when you have to tell them an ugly truth.
And it hurts because they are hurt.

Beaurocracy!!!

The problem with school, palpak.
That's one term to describe it.
Everything is run by useless papers. Something is wrong with the system. The country is chaotic because it starts with the school.
The students have had it! They choose to be passive and indifferent because they have had it. They would be sanctioned if they did something so they choose to swallow the everyday pangs and live until they graduate. Sadly, including me.
It all starts with the school. The students are formed apathetic and as citizens, they become apathetic. This is the plight of the college.
We have a sick reputation. It is soooo everwhere. Now I know why. I'm hating my daily existence in this school. Maybe the other students feel better. But they are not the ones given a classroom that have lockers falling apart. They are not the ones having fiting forms that are fitting-deformed! They are not the ones lacking sewing machines and it barely works!
Yes, that is the plight of the fashion students. We are few and discriminated by the school system. We pay an everage of forty-eight thousand per trimester but we don't get what that's worth. Poor us.
This is our plight. With this, I strive harder that one day I can make a school of my own that will shape citizens different from this school.
It might get yearly repainted. It might look pretty outside but usually, bulok and laman.
